THE KANDY SAMADHI CENTRE – Kandy
Established in 1999, The Samadhi Centre is the vision of Waruna Jayasinghe. This 15 acre property features exquisite lodgings, complemented by superior facilities for yoga, ayurveda and general wellness. Samadhi weaves its magic on you from the moment you enter through its massive Kandyan decor doorway set into stone.
The vision for Samadhi was to present a location where introspective travels are enjoyed in a salubrious setting. Established on the site of a former hill country tea estate, today Samadhi offers 15 living spaces, that are each distinct and offer different pleasures; spread out across various levels.
The Honeymoon suite, located at the very top of the property offers total privacy amidst a wonderful open plan setting, with a 360 degree view. Samadhi also offers many Pavilions that are situated, laid out and appointed according to various themes such as the Mountain Pavilion, Knuckles Pavilion, Thripala Pavilion, Painters Pavilion, Textile Pavilion and the Huluganga Pavilion, located a stone’s throw from the property, overlooking the free flowing Hulu Ganga.
Samadhi also features simple Mud Huts designed for those who prefer a more down to earth guest experience. These furnished living spaces are compact, yet offer plenty of space for exploration of the being.
Each Pavilion includes dedicated lounge/dining and sleeping areas. The décor merges the owner’s passion for antiques/curios and the Samadhi vision to nurture a spirit that calms the mind. Guests can expect lots of seating arrangements alongside plenty of space to relax, unwind and enjoy a blissful state of being.
The central path at Samadhi cris-crosses the property and when walking along these paths, take a moment to stop and reflect as you cherish a tropical birdcall or the flowing, meandering waters of the Hulu Ganga that flows through Samadhi. An indulgent water fall can be observed a few minutes from Samadhi by foot and tours of Kandy and other island wide destinations can also be easily organized.
The central Zen Lounge serves as the Samadhi restaurant. Here, guests can expect a delightful and delicious dining experience in a serene and laidback setting. In the evenings, the terrace is a hive of activity with guests gathering to relax and lets the battles of the day subdue.
Samadhi offers its guests an extensive and varied range of vegetarian meals prepared by the resident in-house chefs. Reflecting the diversity of the East, the menus feature traditional village style presentations of authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. The ingredients for the Samadhi kitchen are all from its very own organic gardens that are also part of this property. Wine is provided on request.
The Samadhi Yoga hall is extremely spacious and designed to provide the most suitable setting for those practicing this free flowing activity. As you inhale and exhale the crisp mountain air, let nature serenade you, drawing you closer, revealing your inner beauty as you surrender your senses.
The ancient practice of ayurveda is very much alive at Samadhi and guests can experience a range of massages and other treatments as prescribed the Samadhi’s own in-house ayurvedic doctor. Every stay begins with a detailed assessment of the guest’s objectives and the ayurvedic/yoga/meditation regime is matched and scheduled as such.
The Samadhi service team is very friendly and committed to ensuring a satisfactory guest experience. The warm hospitality of the service team is as liberal or conservative as the guest desires. The Samadhi service team is committed to help you reach your goals; be they spiritual, mindful or self-indulgent.
For those that relish in the art of silence, Samadhi is a pilgrimage that inspires, empowers and balances mind, body and soul. Discover a supreme merger of splendid surroundings and the enlightened self…
