Bandarawela, in the cool climes of the hill country, has long been known as one of the most pleasant and pristine areas of Sri Lanka. With its ideal year-round climate, dramatic and beautiful sceneries, for decades, many have indulged in Banadarawela for a reinvigorating interval.
Located within the bounds of a working tea estate, the MF Estate Holiday Bungalow, is a colonial styled property, with all the charms of today’s modern world. The MF Estate Holiday Bungalow features six comfy and cosy rooms, across two floors.
Whilst all rooms offer en suite bathrooms, those on the upper floors feature a choice of hot water shower or bath tub; while the four ground floor rooms, feature hot water showers only.
All the rooms are well furnished with generous beds and plenty of space to soak up the ambiance of an era gone by.
The central lounge area includes a magnetic fireplace that provides the lounge with a warm ambiance and also features larger than life glass panels that serve up wonderful and scenic views of the surroundings.
The resident chef, will be more than happy to prepare delicious international fare, ranging from a tasty local rice and curry, to western style main courses including ‘warm me ups’ such as soups and stews!
As you laze about indoors (Wi-Fi & TV in every room), those wishing to venture outside, might be interested in a stroll to the nearby Bandarawela Church with its British Era architecture or for the intrepid, the Bungalow Caretaker, will gladly organize a range of activities; from a jungle trek or a visit to a tea factory to guided tours of the locality. The Bungalow Chef, from time to time, also conducts cooking classes, so you can master the art of preparing popular Sri Lankan fare.
The naturally cool climate means that air-conditioning is an unwanted luxury and the tranquil atmosphere is yours to appreciate as you sit in a relaxing armchair, on your own private balcony. From here, watch native birds on the surrounding trees or wake up to their soothing and curious calls, each glorious morning. The plentiful sight of green tea bushes is indeed a relaxing and reinvigorating way to spend your holiday or transit.
For those travelling in groups, the entire bungalow may be booked, with a maximum capacity of 20 pax.
